THE AUTHOR
Meet Lisa.
The teacher, nanny, mum and grandmother behind Charlie’s adventures.
Hi, I’m Lisa.
Behind Charlie’s adventures is Lisa Daisy Field, a qualified preschool teacher, nanny, mum, and grandmother with years of experience working alongside young children and families.
Through her work with children, including children with an autism diagnosis, Lisa has seen the importance of patience, understanding, inclusion, and giving children the confidence to navigate the world in their own way.
She created Charlie because she wanted children to have stories where they could recognize themselves — and for other children to have an opportunity to understand experiences that may be different from their own.
Lisa believes stories can create a bridge between children. A place where differences become something to understand rather than something to fear.
Her hope is simple: that every child who reads a Charlie story feels seen, understood, and reminded that they belong.
“If just one child reads my book and recognizes themselves in the story, I will have achieved my goal.”
Everyone experiences
the world differently.
Charlie doesn’t experience every situation in the same way as the people around him. And that’s okay. His stories show children that there isn’t only one way to learn, communicate, make friends, or feel comfortable.
None of those things make someone less capable. They are simply part of understanding what helps each person feel safe, confident, and ready to take their next step.
